If anyone knows where there is a good running Yanmar 3GM30 for sale please let me know. I'm located on the eastern shore of Maryland.
Anyone knows of a great rebuilder of Yanmars in the area?

There is a company in Wisconsin has lot of rebuilt ones-cheaper if you have a core to trade in. Just Google 'rebuilt marine diesels Wisconsin.

John Deere golf course equipment run the 3GM30 motor. Picking one up at an agricultural equipment auction on the cheap, with lots of life left in them. Put one in an 83 Mazda B2000 pick-up. Getting 40 mpg city and 50 mpg highway. They have safety shut down, based on temperature. The one I purchased had grass clippings blocking the radiator. Doesn't smoke, always starts. 👍

Do you know the john deere model name number? I have not found the agricultural equivalent yet. I've call several different dealears and have not been able to confirm. Hope you can help that would be fantastic. Thanks

I have a 3gmd 22hp which will be for sale in the spring as we are upgrading to a ym30. Let me know if there is interest.

Engine is in Ottawa Canada.

Hope this helps. John Deere makes it difficult, to say the least. Yanmar doesn't care if you're putting their motor in a toaster oven, as long as it's their motor.
John Deere 3235B Gang or Greens mower. Bolt ons like oil pan, alternator , etc. should swap from motor to motor.

The 3015d is not a 3gm30.

Spent a couple hours on this question last week, just killing time.

The 3015d002 is a 3tne84 yanmar engine. 84mm bore and 89mm stroke, 91 c.i. , a 2600 rpm stroker motor. The injector pump is on the opposite side of the engine as well.


The 3gm30 is 75mm bore and 72mm stroke, about 60 c.i.

In my opinion, the idea of "find the tractor engine equivalent" for this particular Yanmar engine does not pan out. Probably does for others though.

Interestingly, there is a Lexus out there with the same fresh water pump. In have one on my engine for five years now. Has a special carbon ceramic seal, last long time. Tracked it down by the casting number on my pump, to the OEM supplier. And was one third the price of Yanmar pump.

I agree, OEM is the easiest and best route. However, 27MM longer and 17MM taller does not sound like a game stopper. Most people looking for an alternative to the, "Here's my check book, and last born child," mentality understand modifications will be the order of the day. More power could be detrimental, as can more weight. I just do not see the difference in these motors being a deal breaker. More horses in a pinch could be a plus, even though it be only,"A Quarter Horse," pun intended.
