not running, not seized.

engine ran out of fuel a year ago and despite persistent bleeding i have not been able to get it running, im over it, ready to go through with the abortion and strap an o.b. on the side...

includes:
Engine
Wiring harness
Key/Guage Panel
racor filter
electric fuel priming pump
muffler + some exhaust hose

like i said it is not pretty at all, but it is also not shot.
it is on a pallet in our warehouse

Do you know there are 2 bleed points, one on the filter and one on the injector pump? The latter is kinda hidden under the fuel lines. You can pump the fuel pump forever and it will never start unless the second bleeders are loosened. Are you getting fuel up the injector banjo fittings?

both posts are right on. Just to overkill the deal like I always do, I added a low pressure elect fp to my system. Screw that little lever: I bleed my one banger right now baby! Only had to bleed the pump once. took 5sec...4 to find the correct size wrench, one to bleed. Hang in there. An outboard won't have the cojones when you need it, in my experience.

thanks guys tried all that, even had a diesel mech friend help me out and he said i was doing everything right, he was stumped, the electric fuel priming pump negates the lever... never ever have i swaddled a lever...

anyways, cannot justify the expense and complication of a diesel system for how little it is used, but i know there are many who can...

i know an outboard wrecks the resale of the boat but im keeping this one for a longg time... now someone buy this motor

Well this is turning out to be a long day as this will be my fifth post. I had a MD5A Volvo, granted it was a 7.5 hp, but I had a diesel mechanic goall over it after I rebuilt the governer do to an improper injection pump reinstall. I put the enjine back in the boat what a bit... I could get it running for a while but then it would quit. this when on for a couple of days without resolve. Then while laying next to this vile machine I peered back through all the items in the way and saw four screws that hold the diaphram plate on the feed and primer pump. now that in itself is not spectacular, but these are the only d... things I didn't check to tighten. Walla!!! The Darn thing runs like a top! That was the only thing wrong. So don't give up the ship!!!!! or motor!!!!!

fear not, i have only giving up on the motor, not the ship, plenty of interest but no takers yet... incase you forgot what these look like...
