Re: Yamaha 2008 8hp 2-stroke 8MSH

I have one as well and the problem I am having is that I cant get most but the most basic parts (plugs) for it here in the US. Yamaha dealers are no help since it is a overseas model. If you have any sources I would really like to know of them.

Just uses standard, easy to find NGK spark plugs. I'll post the part number when I am with the engine next.

Unhappy Re: Yamaha 2008 8hp 2-stroke 8MSH

I have the spark plugs . It is things like water pump, some seals and parts for the lower unit that I cant get. Was able to match IO and OD sizes to shafts for some of my needs from a good bearing supply store but other things are next to impossible to find in the US. Fortunately I got a kit of repair parts with it that gave me some things but not all that i needed for more in depth maintenance.

Re: Yamaha 2008 8hp 2-stroke 8MSH

Please stop spreading mis-information N4RNV. Parts for this engine are readily available both in the US and in the Caribbean. The fact that this engine was assembled in France has no bearing on the availability of parts.

(As for bearings and seals, any resourceful boat owner or mechanic will buy them from bearing houses since they are usually much cheaper that way).

Re: Yamaha 2008 8hp 2-stroke 8MSH

Looks just like my 8SF. I completely rebuilt it with parts from Boats.net. Rebuild included a new crankcase/cylinder block, bearings, pistons, every gasket, exhaust manifold, and carburettor. You can get any part for these engines, and the prices aren't bad.

BTW, these are the best dinghy motors ever made. Light, powerful, and well-engineered. If I didn't have one already, I'd buy yours!
