I am selling my Top Hat 25 plus the
mooring in Kogarah Bay (Botany Bay -
Sydney - Australia). The RMS advised the
mooring can be currently passed on to the new owner of the yacht, provided they apply for a mooring licence in that location. It is easy to reach by
tender & only 500mt from a slipway &
boat yard.
The Top Hat design is a well know pocket cruising vessel with a long pedigree of global circumnavigations. I only used it around the bay so it did not get exercised properly in my
ownership. It's a very stable and forgiving
boat to sail, it was the third yacht I have owned and easily the safest boat in rough
weather.
It has a sound
hull well built of GRP. It's a dry boat (all
deck fittings removed and resealed 18 mths ago), most of the
rigging has been replaced within the last 2 years and it has only be sailed less than 6 times in that period around the bay.
I live too far away to keep a yacht in
Sydney and have reluctantly decided give away sailing, hence the mooring availability with the yacht. The mooring was designed for my previous 35 ft
Steel Cruising Yacht and provided a bombproof mooring for a little Top Hat. This mooring apparatus can be used for much larger vessels and is worth more than a $1200 to buy.
There is a full set of
safety gear for
day sailing, a set of good
sails, a long shaft
2 stroke outboard motor with all the necessary bits, plus too many sailing extras to list.
It has a simple array of
deck gear and systems that keeps things easy for sailing. Perfect for
day sailing & low
maintenance.
The Top Hat can be sailed away, it's not a
project, however there are things that should be done in time: The windows are very crazed, but I have a sheet of new
Lexan that will come with the
sale. I can show you how to do the new windows, it's not difficult. The timber toe rail was removed prior to
purchase but I was given a roll of rubber bumper strip to replace the toe rail with, an improvement over the timber, this roll is provided in the
sale. I have not had the need for a tow rail in my bay sailing. It has no
electrical system, we used LED and
battery operated lights and accessories.
The
hull is clean and ready for sailing, it was thoroughly scrubbed in late April & with 6 monthly scrubs will be low
maintenance.
I have made up a PDF document with specification and more details of the Yacht, please provide an
email address if you want a copy.
The
price for the yacht and the mooring apparatus is $3600 AUD, as is where is. If you do not want the mooring apparatus with the yacht, then take $200 off the
price. I have priced this yacht and mooring very fairly, it's time for me to move on to other adventures. I am happy to pass on a lot of extras, so don’t start making low offers if you are genuinely interested in the yacht, as I wont deal with people playing games.
