Tamiya Sextant

Hello everyone!! My name is James .
I am not a sailor,I joined this site because I came across this tamiya ms-833 sextant in a storage unit.

It is in the case made sep 29 1984 from what I have seen on the Internet it appears not to have the scope. The serial # is 66842 . It is in the original black hard plastic case it came in. Has extra set of lenses and rubber eye pieces and appears in excellent condition...
The scopes seem to be in the $400 range so there would be a considerable discount since it is not included.
Thanks for your interest .

James, pictures would make a huge difference. Sextants can be fickle beasts, their value used is surprisingly small and $400 for a new scope could exceed the cost of a new "decent" sextant complete, like the Ares or Astra.

I had a guy email me a couple days ago wanting a manual and filters. What do you want, and pictures please.

Re: Tamiya Sextant

I am very sorry it took so long to respond. I had thought that by replying to the email through my phone it would respond to the thread.
I figured it is not too valuable missing the scope. Would $150 be too much? Also if you respond with a Cell number I could send pictures of it as soon as I recieve your number thanks.

Re: Tamiya Sextant

MrJames,

The Tamaya MS-833 Jupiter is an excellent little sextant. I had one until recently, with a serial number just below yours.

If it's in excellent condition, it's probably worth a lot more than $125, even without the 'scope.

You might contact Celestaire (Celestaire, Inc.) and ask them about a 'scope for the MS-833.

Good luck in selling it.

Bill
