Sunbrella Oyster White Awning Boats 35'-45'

We are selling our little used, Oyster White Sunbrella Sun Awning. Measures 10'8"Length X 10'6" Width. Heavily reinforced, used between mast and cockpit dodger. Can be hoisted up with main halyard, tied front and back as well as all sides with grommets.

Also has large raincatching through-hulls that we connected to hoses and ran to tanks.

Clean, has one small 2" chafe in one corner.

Asking $125 - we paid $200 in Sunbrella and materials when built!

Thanks for looking!

Re: Sunbrella Oyster White Awning Boats 35'-45'

I realize a photo is the best but I cannot find one and it's blowing pretty hard here so I cannot st it up now...maybe a description would help:

The awning is essentially a large rectangle with reinforced points on middle top for holding it up by way of main halyard, mast tie in in front and in the back the back stay as another tie in. The sides (about 3 1/2" from center) can be supported up to make a somewhat flat top with a bit of slant on each side using the numerous stainless steel grommets all around (there is a section with "down" flaps on each side about 20" or so). The front side sections can be tied to stays and the back to a dodger or bimini top. The 2 side flaps then attached to the deck or rails with small lines. It has proven effective for us.

The main halyard can also be eased when it rains to collect water through the large scuppers (I believe they are 1") located near the centerline on each top side section.

Hope this helps

Very interested in this. Tried to PM you but apparently, even after a few years, I am not "trusted" enough to PM...
I am in Fort Lauderdale. Please email me at mtsusa at hotmail dot com
For the forum, how does one become "trusted" ----- most frustrating!!

I am not interested in buying it but wonder if you made it yourself and what plans or pattern did you use.
Thanks.

Re: Sunbrella Oyster White Awning Boats 35'-45'

The awning has been sold. Thanks to all for the interest and sorry we did not have about 5 or 6 others...

In response as to the patterns or design, it was just a bunch of brainstorming and a patterning material model that kept being modified, cut, taped, etc. till a viable one was achieved

Cheers
Ovi

There is a good instruction in tropical cruising handbook. unless you are spending time in one place especially a calm marina, your wont use one much. that was my experience anyway, and I'm sure the OP as it was "lightly used" sold mine for around the cost of materials, will take you a week to make. good luck!

I have one, came with the boat, 5 sleeves that require 10 foot poles beam to beam. Horribly dangerous in a blow and we usually get a squall or two daily in summer. never tried not using the poles, it has 3 points for a halyard. Too windy in my anchorage, probably be good for Marina.
Anyone want to trade for a 6ft 3 bow bimini 86" wide? Green.

Re: Sunbrella Oyster White Awning Boats 35'-45'

Yes, that is why I gave up the poles idea, squalls blow them away quick!
This one can be dropped with the main halyard quickly and untie the front line from the mast especially in those late nite fire drills. So it takes about 15 seconds or so.
