Wanted For Free: Small and Light Gift Items for Pacific Islanders

There are so many things the islanders can use: from food supplies, school supplies, education, ... So many things going in the landfills in our big cities, would be treasures for them! The problem is cost of shipping and organization to get it to them.

if you are in majuro you might try visiting the local missions,they often have stuff that needs taking out to the remote atolls,also the health center and school.

in kiribati we were surprised to find on kanton atoll they had loads of books,pencils and medicines.......but no food!!!!!

sadly tobbacco and sweets were in high demand as gifts,as they run out if the supply ship is late.

Will do, sorry so late in all this, life seems to be moving faster than I can keep up with. But I have collected lots of little shampoos, lotions, and conditioners, and hope to have some reading glasses and small toys.

Sorry all for putting a damper on the good will thing , but from my experiences in the pacific islands was that it was like feeding the ducks,{they keep coming back for more and s#%t on everything}they saw us as mobile ATM machines. The condom suggestion was a good one.But saying that there was a couple of places that appreciated the gifts and recipticated with food etc.

Please dont take plastic containers. ie:shampoo etc ! They have no way of disposing of it short of the ocean. I have been in that area and have seen what happens.
