[SOLD] SL Hyspeed Manual Windlass

Hello,

I have a SL Hyspeed Windlass that I was trying to repair/service. It seems that a part is broken that I wont be able to replace.

I am looking to just replace it with a similar one because my boat already has holes drilled through the bowsprit and I rather not fill/drill new holes for another type of windlass.

Is anyone interested in selling theirs and maybe upgrading to a electric?

What broke? Got a picture? I thought these things were indestructible.

I thought so to. On the Main shaft in between the sprockets there looks to be these two little clips, I believe they are a clutch system.

In the first pic you can see the main shaft. I took off one of the sprockets.

Second pic is a close up

Third pic is the item of question. In this one, you can see that this little thing sits place; this is the part that is NOT broken.

Fourth pic is the other side, this is the part that is broken in half.

Fifth pic is another view of the same thing.

Basically I can't find any sites or anything that sells that part. I figured I would just buy another Hyspeed instead of drilling new holes in my bowsprit like I stated before.

Unless any Gurus can offer some advice or something?

have you checked Boaters Resale of Texas? I think they had one last time I was in there.

Yes, some chap in Scotland I believe is hand making parts as a retirement business.

Looks like a ratchet pawl. I would take it to a local small machine shop. Should be easy to make- not too tight tolerances and no polish, etc. I would guess a piece could be made for less than a couple hundred, definitely cheaper than another unit.

I second the recommendation for the guy in Scotland. His name is John McMaster and he's quite helpful and is the go to for old SL gear.

I see a Pawl on their website for 25 Pounds. Relatively expensive if they're are mass produced but a lot cheaper than a new unit or getting 1 custom-made
