Not much in the way of details? When they don't say much it makes me suspicious.

I'll play the cynic and say a lot can go wrong. How about sails, rigging, deck de lamination, interior conditions/bulkheads, hull condition, etc., etc.

All we know is its 35 year old boat with a newish engine and some solar panels. Worth $6,000? Maybe, maybe not.

The '77 Hunter is on craigslist for $5,500. I wonder if it has an interior, or is a hurricane boat.

30ft hunter sail boat

Funny, here the same boat is listed as a '76:

Good point. If we keep looking maybe its listed at $5K somewhere.

But, I still think there is a LOT we don't know about it.

I agree. But, it's worth finding out. Could be a winner. I bet there is a mechanic's lien or a storage lien involved.

all boats need to be evaluated.. this has been the problem.. just becuaes the boat is 'selling/listed' at a higher price doesnt mean it is better then this boat...

so far no one has been able to figure out a way to keep the priced 'honest'...

I think you miss our point Bill.

The 77 hunter is also listed as a '76 by the same guy (check his phone number and pictures of the boats), and he has listed it with different sized engines.

Makes me (and probably BL) wonder why he has listed the same boat as different years, etc. in different publications.

oh, i agree, this boat and the multiple ads, differing descriptions/details, and lack of details is scary... I did send him an email and have not gotten any replies yet... I am failry sure he will correct all discrepancies with answers like he didnt know, he is a newbie or something... all of which would be kinda 'acceptable'... again. I would would like at a boat like this, may like it and end up spending $500 for a survey to find out he maybe lied???
