Raymarine Type 1 Linear Drive

I am selling a new Type 1 Linear Drive that was purchased as a spare but never used. $995 including free shipping to lower 48. It does not come with hardware mounts.

I too am interested... curious how you would have mounted this below decks, attached to the quadrant?

Re: Raymarine Type 1 Linear Drive

Raymarine make a mounting base that attaches to the boat and another device that attaches from the "piston" to a lever extending out from the rudder. Since rudder shaft diameters differ, you would have to get a lever designed to fit your particular shaft. In the photos above, the "piston" is the long shaft that extends out from the motor housing.

Re: Raymarine Type 1 Linear Drive

Ostinato,
I PM'd you a couple of days ago.

How old is the unit?

Are you certain that it works as new and do you guarantee that it works?
Thanks
Don

Re: Raymarine Type 1 Linear Drive

I got it last summer from a dealer so I presume it is about one year old. I bought it as new so I presume it operates that way. I have not used it or even connected it. I can see that the motor driving the piston operates but that is about it.

Re: Raymarine Type 1 Linear Drive

I called Raymarine and they said I could establish that it was operating ok if a connected the clutch and motor to a 12v source. I did this using alligator clips and piston runs in and out just the way it should.

The only thing else I can add, is that you can check out my track record on ebay as "ostinatoii"

Re: Raymarine Type 1 Linear Drive

Ostinatoii
Thanks for this - I don't want to insult you by making a low offer. Here's my situation - my older Raymarine Linear Drive has an intermittent clutch problem (I believe). I've been wrestling with this for about a year, replacing wires, connections, lubricating the clutch rails,.... At some point I'll need to send this to Raymarine for rebuild, at $575. To me, a replacement drive is worth the cost of rebuild, shipping, convenience,.... or about $650. Would you consider this for the drive?
Thanks
Don

Re: Raymarine Type 1 Linear Drive

Port Supply - West Marine's wholesale arm - prices these at $1610. I suggest you send yours to Raymarine if you can really get it rebuilt for that. The last time I checked Raymarine on rebuilding one it was considerably more.

Re: Raymarine Type 1 Linear Drive

The Raymarine Service price list, shows $575 for Type 1 Linear Drive. Earlier this year I looked at online/boat show sale prices around $1,300 with warranty. West Marine prices (even Port Supply) prices are usually higher than what I can usually find online. Also found a CF classified from Nov 2011 selling for $500. Unfortunately, even though as new, the drive is used. Please let me know if you reconsider.
Thanks
Don
