Raymarine Autopilot Linear Drive unit

This is a used Raymarine AP below decks linear drive unit. It is the short version. It was sold to me as Type 2, but the label is off it and the dimensions of the type 1 and type 2 are the same. I had it in my spare parts for backup bin. I tested it by hooking it and ensuring it drove both directions, but have never used it. Good for a backup or replacement for an offshore boat with a linear drive. Don't want to be without an AP! Includes mounting bracket as seen in photos.
$500 plus shipping or pick up in the Chesapeake.

Re: Raymarine Autopilot Linear Drive unit

Paul,

I'm interested but I don't know if I need a short or long drive. I have a CSY 33. I'm planning to replace my wheel pilot and this is a piece I need if, it is the correct size. Do you know how I can measure for the correct size?

Re: Raymarine Autopilot Linear Drive unit

Wunderlust,
Download the Raymarine manual and look at the drawing on page 8. It shows what the required dimensions are. Try this link http://www.raymarine.com/GetFile.asp...5&categoryId=3
If it doesn't work, go to the raymarine site and to support and download the manual from Autopilots/Smartpilots modular/drive units/linear

Hope this helps

Re: Raymarine Autopilot Linear Drive unit

Paul,

While doing some research I discovered I would have to buy an X-30 Corepack for the type 2 drive. The X-30 cost $800 more than an X-10 which is all I need for my boat. I would like to have the robustness of the type 2 but just can't afford it.

Thanks,

David

Re: Raymarine Autopilot Linear Drive unit

David,
Yea, I guess the type 2 drive could draw more current than the x10 delivers in some cases. If you are looking to save money, you might look for a 300g computer on Ebay, etc.

Re: Raymarine Autopilot Linear Drive unit

Raymarine Type 2 Autopilot Linear Drive still available. You could have a lot of confidence by having a backup.

No really. The guy I bought it from used it as a back up while cruising. That is the same thing I did.
