Promariner Shaft Brush

12" spring with contact brush (as in motor, not bristles) and wire connection lug on end. Used to ground propeller shaft by riding against it. Best price I can find is $18 plus $9 shipping; I'll take $16 or best offer in a month including shipping in the US. This one is new, but the package has been wet.

Re: Promariner Shaft Brush

Having never heard of this "critter", what is it's purpose? To provide a ground for electronics and electrics though the prop shaft to the water?

Re: Promariner Shaft Brush

No, not quite. It is necessary to include your propeller and shaft in your boat's bonding, or your anodes will do no good and corrosion will eat the prop and shaft. If your propeller shaft is bolted directly to your transmission, this likely happens anyway, but if you have a plastic shock and vibration controlling link between the shaft and the transmission, the shaft is insulated from the engine block, and the brush bridges the gap.
