I tried it again this morning on the same system and it works fine - go figure. This kind of silliness is partly why I got out of the IT business.

SOLD! SOLD! SOLD!

SOLD

Yes, sold the boat today. The new owner is a young man who recently sold his Tanzer 22 to move up to a bigger boat. We are both happy. I'm taking him sailing on his new boat tomorrow.

Thank you everyone for your interest and comments.

Good for both of you. And thanks again for the sail the other day.

Re: Pearson 30 loaded/diesel/dinghy Kingston (Lake) Ontario Canada

Just a quick little after-sold note. I received this email from the new owner:

Hi Dave

Would you like to go sailing tomorrow, I can't wait to meet you again. I had a really nice sail today with my friend, it is so beautiful out there.
But I also made a stupid decision at the very beginning of the trip today, I let my friend steer the boat while leaving the harbor, just for several SECONDS to let me put the Chartplotter's cover down below, and my friend just turned the tiller to the wrong direction, then the boat went toward the breakwater wall, I put the engine to almost full reverse, the boat still hit the rock a bit.
I didn't realize that my friend has no idea about how the tiller steering works, It is my fault. Goddamn, there is a nasty scratch at the bow, not really big tho, it is like a half size of the phone screen.
Holy crap, I really hate myself now, It's my first time to let an unqualified friend to take over my own boat, I am so stupid. FK

Pearson 30 loaded/diesel/dinghy Kingston (Lake) Ontario Canada

If he keeps it up, pretty soon he'll have reduced her value to the price he bought her at!

You sold her, congrats! As an aside, I was on Aubrey Island yesterday and found a Geocache hidden by one "Hamburking".

The pictures have been removed, now that the boat has sold. You'll have to get your "boat porn" elsewhere

Re: Pearson 30 loaded/diesel/dinghy Kingston (Lake) Ontario Canada

So I sold the boat at the beginning of Sept (2015). Then, while browsing around on kijiji, I find my boat for sale:

30ft sailboat for sale! Inboard Diesel | sailboats | City of Toronto | Kijiji

Its definitely my boat, the license number is the same, plus there are many unique details I recognize. But I did not take the pictures, they must be new with the new owner.

This is just weird...did the new owner put it up for sale again? Buyers remorse? I've been in contact with him regarding winterizing, and he did not mention anything. Is it just me, or is this weird?

Probably buyers remorse. Either that or a scammer. The buyer of the first keel boat I sold had remorse before even the keys were handed over (he got in trouble from his wife for buying it). He did hang on to the boat for about 5 years though, but I don't think it ever moved off his mooring in that time.

Re: Pearson 30 loaded/diesel/dinghy Kingston (Lake) Ontario Canada

Well, he is trying to sell it at a profit, and suggesting the price will go up in spring, so maybe he's decided to make a living buying / selling boats. (Good luck with that one )

But since he also talks about possible trade for a power boat or RV, my more serious guess would just be that he's decided sailing isn't his thing after all. Or maybe he discovered that winterizing and storing is more trouble than he thought.

Re: Pearson 30 loaded/diesel/dinghy Kingston (Lake) Ontario Canada

And - just thought of this - maybe the damage when he hit the breakwater was more extensive than it first appeared, and he's decided he doesn't want to deal with it. But now I'm getting into wild theorizing.

But anyway, in answer to your initial question, yeah - it seems odd.
