Re: Older Fleming Wind Vane

I may be interested, but would appreciate some more details, and photos are always nice. I'm sure others will also be looking for more info.

Re: Older Fleming Wind Vane

These are net photos - Zephrya was in transit and everything was taken off and stowed below when I was with her last week so not able to take an actual photo of the unit .. but this is the vane I called Joey for 10 years and he never let me down, feel asleep on watch or over-ate in the galley - one hellva crew member and I will be sad to see him move off into the sunset on board a lucky boat to have him. On one trip down the Pacific we had seas in excess of 40 feet and winds over 65 knots and we never had to attend to the wheel once... pretty amazing stuff. JIm

Re: Older Fleming Wind Vane

Thanks for the added information and pics. Are you selling the Fleming Major or the Fleming Minor?

Also, you mention that it will be available for the first week of May. Where will it be?

Re: Older Fleming Wind Vane

Thanks for following up - checking the diagrams closely I would have to say it is the Minor.. the vane holder is the same as mine... sorry if I sound a little confused - it came with limited paper work when I purchased it from Fleming in Dan Diego - it came refurbished and I have replaced the bearings since then - the shaft on the paddle was as long as the Major and I had to make an adapted bracket to lift it by 12 inches so that it sat in the water properly.. it was originally on a much larger boat but it worked great and never thought about asking which model it was. Now we both know. Jim

Morgan Sailor . Can you tell me why you would need the major ? Is it the length , the size ? And would you know if a wheeled vain can be simply changed too fit a tiller ? Would anyone know what brand vain would work best on a hooked on rudder/tiller system ? It a 24ft Windrose. Thanks sincerely steve.

Re: Older Fleming Wind Vane

Steve, I'm basing it on the brochure provided by the OP a few posts up. It states that the minor is suitable for most boats under 20,000 lb displacement. My boat displaces more than that. No other reason, and I'm not able to answer any of your questions, sorry.
