Old Hawaiian Chart

I'm in the process of building a solon table and I'd like to cover it with a Hawaiian chart, and surround it with nautical coins, then seal it with liquid plastic. I'd be willing to pay for the shipping and some handling fees. It does need to be at least 42" long.

Thanks!

Re: Old Hawaiian Chart

You've got to be kidding me!
There's no one out there with an old chart. I guess I'll have to buy new.

Re: Old Hawaiian Chart

Why buy? You can download the NOAA charts and have a local engineering print house print them for you pretty cheap. If you know anyone with graphics software, they could apply an artistic filter to make it look aged, if that's the effect you want.

Think about it... If you had a cool old chart of the Hawaiian Islands, would you want to sell it?

Re: Old Hawaiian Chart

If you change your mind from having more $$ than time I did my cousin's entire kitchen with this last week. Worked great.

Re: Old Hawaiian Chart

I recall I once needed to see an old (1903) topo map of the Adirondacks, and discovered that the USGS makes old versions available online in digital form. So just a notion -- maybe old nautical charts are digitally stored and printable?

EDIT: I got curious and Googled a bit.
See here:
http://http://historicalcharts.noaa.gov
and here:
http://historicalcharts.noaa.gov/his..._tsv=&Doc_num=

If you click "Related Maps" it shows several charts from the 1930s. You can choose to preview, and then to download. Not sure what the ultimate resolution is, but it might be something you could work with for large-format output.

Re: Old Hawaiian Chart

Thanks, but it doesn't need to be that old. I guess I should have said used and/or out of date.
I had a merchant friend who use to use old/used charts for wrapping paper on gifts. Maybe I should contact him to see if he has any HI's laying around.

Stu, I used that stuff for a laundry counter out in the garage. But I'm after a little more of a custom look.

Will,
I would think, the more improvements, the easier to sell. And I still enjoy "messing around" on the boat.

Re: Old Hawaiian Chart

Search the net I think you may find one that is printable. I know US libraries are pretty well stocked up with old charts.
