New British Seagull 102 Long Shaft

Own one of the most desirable outboards ever made! It's legendary, reliable and
a retro classic! New, never used British Seagull 5HP long shaft outboard motor.
This unit has never been used and has been in storage for over 40 years! In like
new condition (minor scuffs due to age) it comes complete with a custom made
case for protection and storage, original pull rope and manual. Don't miss your
chance to own one of the most sought after outboards built. Engine is a simple
to maintain two stroke. Forget those complicated modern 4-Strokes. Starts easy
and because so many were made parts are still available. Don't miss your chance
to own this nautical classic. Guaranteed to run! In Singapore. S$800 Tel or text: 91827248.

Hi, Yes, you're right. I did put it somewhere but it doesn't show up. It's S$800.

Thanks!

Well, it's only the end of March, but this gets my vote as the funniest post of the year!

I used to own one but used it very little...... and not from lack of opportunity or trying.

I do hear claims from some that if you have the magic touch and know the secrets they are reliable and simple to use but I was never able to acquire the necessary skills.

I've got the touch, but by having the touch I would not call it reliable. For some reason the British built this thing with a cosmic connection to chicken sacrifice. Thereby making it pseudo reliable to a fraction of a percent of the population of the planet earth.

Re: New British Seagull 102 Long Shaft

I had one of these. it was somewhere between 1 1/2 and 3 HP according to the manual. Even the builder wasn't sure. However it always started after the first or second pull! Sold it to someone in Bermuda. took it back with him as check in baggage from Toronto. guess it's still running.

Are you sure you had "the touch"? Maybe you were just "touched".

Re: New British Seagull 102 Long Shaft

I still have my old 5hp Sea Gull. It took me all over the Keys and Bahamas on an older 21' San Juan years ago and it still putts along just fine. A bit of the magic touch for sure, or just knowing where to turn the screw driver. It's a simple little beast. Pretty decent for a British motor. Now that old MG Midget of mine... That#$&%*^$*piece of#&%$#&$#

Re: New British Seagull 102 Long Shaft

The British had an uncanny knack for turning raw materials into unreliable machines with labels like Triumph, BSA, Norton, MG, Austin Healey, and British Seagull.

Thanks to recycling, eventually all the crap they made can be melted down and re-purposed.
