But lostatseagain has a point...
She will come running back to you if you put your foot down!
You sell the boat and the mojo seeps out the door.

If you do sell her which i just checked the pics out, shes a lovely boat and you probably wont get another like it.
Can you please stay on the forum as all these posts are documented now and let us all know how the relationship is in say 12 months. I want you here telling us all of the mistake you made just as a reminder to the next guy making the same mistake
Your boat is your soul, Its the gateway to freedom

We don’t know all the details in your relationship, but please look in the mirror then ask you’re self:
What will be the next thing she ask you to change ?? (sell, quit, stop doing), so she can love you (again)

And Marinas world wide are full of lonly men who drink beer too often. It very funny that you came here to sell a boat and you get soo much expert advice on relationships. Hell they can even agree on what anchors you need to use.

When i look at all my friends and their lives,
And their slave like existences. trapped in society. They can have it all
Im happy
Theres plenty of women out there who want the same as i do,
Plus it isnt about the relationships, its about the lifestyle and if its what you are into nothing else could make you happier.

I am glad that you are happy ...... However that is your lifestyle choice. Others including the OP may have different priorities and he has my respect for that just as i respect the choice that you make in your life.

Let's hope your girlfriend looks as good as your boat... 'cause that's a GEM. If I owned that boat, I know I wouldn't sell it even if my girlfriend demanded so. A boat's a part of your soul.

Problem is........

Man meets woman and never wants he to change

Woman meets man and can't wait to start moulding him!

The boat will just be the first sacrifice, oh and yes I'm happily married. The point is "is she the right woman?"

The boat may not mean as much to the OP as it would to some of us. If it was me, I'd tell her to take a hike, but that's me. I don't have my boat yet and my wife is a little nervous because she knows what I'm planning to do. She also knows that not her or anyone else is going to talk me out of it. I've made it quite clear, if she doesn't want to go with me I'm going alone. Sam

Re: Nantai 37 Aft Cockpit - Girlfriend Had Enough.....

Have you considered turning around and sailing back to Miami? It would be LOTS easier and more comfortable going downwind. You'd be back in a few days. And your boat would be much easier to sell in the U.S. Who wants to buy an expensive plane ticket to look at a boat when there are dozens of low-priced alternatives within a few hours' drive?

And once you stop slogging to windward against the winter trade winds, your girlfriend's attitude may change dramatically. You have discovered, the hard way, that gentlemen don't sail to windward, especially with good-looking chicks on board.

Who knows? Maybe if she starts to change her mind, you could take a very leisurely cruise up to the Chesapeake Bay this spring on the ICW, and then you'd probably be in the best place possible to sell a boat.

Best of luck.

Re: Nantai 37 Aft Cockpit - Girlfriend Had Enough.....

I've been getting lots of laughs this morning reading all these posts giving manly relationship advice.

I think one reason we see this situation repeated over and over – he likes sailing but she doesn't – is first because none of us likes to do things we don't feel competent at and second women are natural nesters and home builders, and they like to feel that the place where they live has their mark, is of their design. I lived aboard two different boats during 20 years of marriage, even one that we built and designed together, but my husband never stopped referring to our boat as "my boat." He thought of it that way and squeezed me out of decisions more often than not. The more experience I got, the more often I disagreed with him – but as you can see on these forums, getting two sailors to agree on just about anything is tough.

Now I have my own boat and I can do what I want, go where I choose. I know I don't ever want to go back to being cook, cleaner and passenger. I don't know if the co-captain thing is even possible. I do know that if I ever got serious with a guy, it would have to be an "our boat," which would probably mean having to sell both our boats and get something together, because if you move onto his boat, it will always be his boat.
