Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI

Charlie Morgan designed many sailing vessels and one of his most popular sellers was the 462 series. This 46’ center cockpit ketch was built of thick fiberglass with a modified fin keel and skeg protected rudder, cored decking and keel stepped masts. The deck layout and accommodations below reflect her intended use as a long range, comfortable cruiser, and it would be hard to find a better design for cruising or living on board.

Adelia Jo sleeps 10 and has 2 staterooms, 2 heads w/ showers, a forward facing navigation desk with good electronics. This boat has always been owner operated and never chartered. Her deck is huge and her cockpit comfortable, the galley is safe at sea and has abundant storage, there are 2 companionways to enter the boat and a strong diesel engine. If you are looking for a very large live-aboard or cruising vessel with lots of goodies, look no further. The boat is currently alongside in a marina in Tortola waiting for her new captain.

I guess since there is no price tag on this lovely vessel, I am going to assume that it is free, if that is the case, I'll take it, when can I pick it up?

Ok, 69K sounds reasonalbe, what year was she built, and what does she need? ie, bottom paint, blisters, general overall condition.

Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI

She has been hauled every year for hurricane season and the bottom done with Seahawk Islands 44 plus. There were no blisters when she was launched in October 2011. As to what she needs, keep in mind that she is a 1981 vessel. She is in outstanding condition as she has been my home for the past 8 years. She needs a halyard here and there and a mast head light, etc but nothing major that I am aware of. She has had her rigging inspected every other year and all repairs made as needed. All sails are in excellent condition, all bright work has been meticously cared for. She has been my baby and I would not be selling her if it were not for some medical issues. If you have specific questions I am on the vessel as we speak and I will be happy to provide whatever information you would like.

Sounds nice and like a lot of boat for the price.

How about engine hours? Didn't see that and kind of important.

Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI

As to engine hours, I cannot answer with certainty as the hour meter was non functioning when I bought her. In the past eight years I have put about 125 hours per season on her. I know both the original owner and the owner before me. The owners before me used her pretty much as a dockaminium for a couple months a year so usage was minimal and they had her for about 10 years. My best guess is somewhere in the 10 K range. If you know anything about Perkins, you will know that this really is not a lot. The engine runs beautifully with no problems. I have always maintained it and have a complete maintenance log to prove it.

Buddy, I think potential buyers would be interested in a ground tackle inventory.

Potential buyers, here is a recent thread on the Morgan 462 with lots of good info:

Wow, no offense but if you are serious about selling the boat interior pics available to the public are essential. When I was looking if I had had to request interior pictures of every boat I might have been interested in, well some would have surely gotten a pass. Too many boats out there for sale with lots of pics. But hey, its your boat to sell or not.

Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI

Doodles is right, lots of boat out there, it sounds like your boat is priced right, and while there are a lot of lookyloos out there, they talk to friends and family all the time about boats that are out there for sale. You are at a disadvantage because your boat is in the BVI's, yes there are buyers there but there are alot more buyers in the states. Good boat representaion is critical if you expect someone to travel just to look at your boat. While I am not interested in buying your lovely boat, I have told no less then 3 potential buyers about it and directed them to this forum to take a look.
