Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI
Gentlemen and Ladies,
I stand corrected. However being technolgy challenged, I seem to have been able to post the interior pics. If anyone can explain it to me I would be greatly appreciative.

Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI (Interior Photos)
Thanks for the guidance on adding additional pictures, but it appears that I have timed out on the 'Edit' function, so I'll add them here.

Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI
A couple of years ago I wanted to look at a boat in Tortola, from Florida, and it was a devil of a traipse to get there. We either had to go via Puerto Rico, where the planes didn’t merge, or into the US Virgin Islands and catch a ferry. Either way it involved two nights stay over, and is very expensive from the US.
We actually finished up taking a five day cruise from Miami, which stopped in Tortola for a day. Believe it or not it was the same price as flying and hotels, and much more enjoyable. It’s a very beautiful sailing location, but I still didn’t buy the boat.
So I second Rocketman: You could be lucky and find a local buyer, but anyone with a boat in that neck of the woods needs to make a more than special effort to market it internationally. For starters, you need good quality, wide angle, photos of the interior and a more than full description.
"If you are just another "Lookeeloo" please don't waste my time or yours." is hardly the right attitude.

Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI
Jolly Roger,
Thank you for your reply and insights. Fortunately it is now much easier to reach the BVI. Jet Blue has direct flights every day from the Northeast US and I undestand also from other areas as does Spirit. Yes, the flights go into St. Thomas but the ferry connections are quite timely and it is a magnificent one hour ferry trip through the islands, particularly for someone who has never been there.
As to the photos, I could have done as you suggested but I thought real, unretouched, unphoto shopped photos of just what it is would be better. If someone takes the time and effort to make the trip to see her they will see her realistically so why portray her to be something she is not. Anyway, she is what she is and that is a terrific vessel with all manner of extras at a remarkable price.
Thanks again.
Buddy

Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI
I don’t see how “good quality, wide angle photos of the interior” can be interpreted as, “unretouched, unphoto shopped photos.” Good quality photos are just that, and I never mentioned Photoshop.
Notwithstanding your belief your boat is exceptional value, there are thousands of owners out there who think exactly the same, and good pictures, particularly wide angle, (because of the smallness of the rooms), might just persuade a buyer to make the trip.
I’m not advocating you buy an SLR and wide angle lens, (although I would, if I was trying to sell a boat in this climate), because many of the point-and-shoot cameras have a panorama, or wide angle setting. All you need is a decent flash.
When I was a prospective buyer a year ago, the pictures you present would have indicated to me you are not really interested in selling the boat. Making excuses for the shots is not a good selling technique—you should re-take them until you get the very best you can with the camera you have.
Few people will take the time and cost to make a long trip to talk to someone who can’t be bothered to show the boat properly. What’s it going to look like when they get there?

Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI
Thanks again for your thoughts. I guess the reason for my thoughts is that the first time I spoke with a broker, he indicated to me that they would take "about150 photos and then he would photoshop them," before posting to their site. That tended to turn me off completely. I believe I am an honest man and I have a boat to sell. Do I want to sell her? Probably not but unfortunately I must. Perhaps that is something you detected in my responses. She is a great vessel, a whole lot of boat with lots of extras as I am not going to be able to take them with me. Obvioiusly, I am not a photographer but I am a sailor and I know my boat. Hopefully, I can get that across to a prospective buyer. Thanks again for your help and advise.

Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI
Well that just shows you what a stray word can do to a possible deal, in this case the broker gave you the wrong impression. I am a long time user of Photoshop and a semi-professional photographer, so I use it a lot. There is nothing dishonest about improving, (as opposed to altering) a picture, and the broker would probably only bring out the darker areas and reduce the size and resolution for Yachtworld. Why don’t you ask around the place you are in? I bet there is someone with a decent camera and flash, who could take first rate shots for a small fee or other compensation. Good luck.

Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI
I don’t want to labour the point, because it’s no difference to me what kind of pictures owners take, because I’m not in the market. But I just looked at the few images on felixqld66’ new post. Now there’s a nicely presented boat, which you can see he has taken the trouble to clean up and take a decent picture or two. It’s not rocket science to understand this will inspire confidence in a buyer, who has to consider a long trip to look at it.

Re: Morgan 462 Ketch - BVI
Last weekend I went to look at a 43' boat in Annapolis. With fuel, hotel etc it cost a few hundred bucks. The holiday inn at St. Thomas is $250 a night! It would cost over 1k to come see your boat. With no quality interior pics, good luck! If it must be sold I would take it to FL or MD and put it on a no reserve ebay auction with tons of quality pics.
