Loaded Cruising Catamaran 38-50 ft

My husband and I will be flying to Florida next week from Canada looking for a live aboard catamaran. We have scoped out everything listed on the popular sites like Yachtworld etc and made arrangements with various brokers for viewings. If you are an owner of a cat (38-50 ft) and you maybe considering selling plse let us know the particulars of the boat and perhaps we can arrange to view it!

Much Appreciated
Brenda and Rob

Theres an 04 Athena in Fl for 149k, an 04 Venezia in FL same broker, 179k.(does this make Joy overpriced even before it was hit by lightning???)
Theres a 03 lagoon 380 fully equipped in TX for 220k Lots of nice boats in your range, but the move very fast if priced well.

Re: Loaded Cruising Catamaran 38-50 ft

I suggest contacting one of the catamaran sales companies, and also contact the Moorings.

The market on those types of boats is small enough that a specialist can keep tabs on pretty much the whole market and can help you hit your price/feature target.

The largest supply of boats is ex-charter boats in the Caribbean. They are not "loaded", but they are widely available and the sellers are highly motivated.

The Catamarans that you see listed in yachtworld, if the listing is more than a week or two old, are typically overpriced or are not as represented - properly marketed and priced cruising cats will sell very, very fast.

My strategy - which has been extensively discussed for it's pros and cons on the CF - will be to buy an ex-charter boat and upgrade it to suit my needs.
- Pros: They are mostly factory-standard boats with popular features and are "professionally" maintained
- Cons: They get very heavy usage, are lightly equipped, and are not maintained by "professionals"

This - do you have a link? I haven't run across this one and it's in my backyard.

I didn't realize it was so easy to sell a $200K plus boat in this environment.

The wealthy are doing quite well, even more so in this environment.
Have you noticed the US stock market breaking through into new highs..

Ok , with that Comment , I am now pretty sure the "bernanke Fake QE" US market has pretty muched topped.

As far as buying a decent cat for 200k - there are plenty of good deals out there. Don't let the brokers fool you- It is a buyers market big time.
