Re: Leopard 38 for sale

Great looking Cat, but engine hours unknown? Kind of an important detail for a prospective buyer.

Why were they rebuilt in 2006, and how were they not checked for functioning hour meters at the time? How was the maintenance schedule determined?

Re: Leopard 38 for sale

Hi Jake

I am not sure why the engines were overhauled in 2006 as I was not the owner then and I have owned the boat since Nov 2011. The hour meters have always been intermittant, they work then they stop and they are reading around 2500 per engine so I can only assume that they were reset when overhauled. As far they go I have not had a days trouble with them. They do not smoke at all even when cold and have brought us all the way from South Africa. Being 42 hp a side they do not need to be pushed either as they have plenty of go. I am a qualified marine engineer and have worked on many boats, and would welcome any test on their condition as I am confident they are in good condition.

They have also had regular oil and oil filter changes.

Hope I have answered your questions.

Dimitri

Re: Leopard 38 for sale

This is 220 volt boat right?

Is the master bunk side loading or foot loading? (Does one have to climb over partner to enter / exit bunk?)

Re: Leopard 38 for sale

On the master side the Stateroom is forward, and side loading, so Yes any of the births youd have first one in would have to climb over. On the Port side the Aft birth is a bit easier to get in and out of and has a little more headroom.

Looigi who did your bowpsrit / screeche and what kind of performance gain do you see?

Thanks D.

That and lack of storage in the galley put me off a bit but it is a pretty nice boat.

Re: Leopard 38 for sale

Actually we felt it had pretty good storage in the galley compared to everything we looked at galley up, compared to galley down not as good but decent. It blows away the 38&40'fp. There is alot of storage all over the boat though.

Nice clean looking boat.
I would also like to know how much you gain with the fold-up bowsprit. What kind of sail do you fly there?
