Not too hard, read and sign some papers, plunk down some cash.

I infer that you would also like to use it to talk to people on this phone so you might want to look into buying a service contract or pay as you go minutes.

Having worked on this as my last project before we left to go sailing, I must comment that I was very impressed with the effort the whole team put into the new Extreme phone. They did a lot of water testing so it should stay waterproof quite well.

thanks = do folks ever sell their phones second hand? Of course we know service contract or minutes makes the whole thing work - just wondered if someone had a phone they no longer used and were willing to sell

You may get lucky and find someone who's crusing plans are cut short or are upgrading systems.

The Extreme is so recent that you are unlikely to find one used and if you do, it probably won't be at much of a discount. Ebay is probably your best bet. The non tracker Iridium phones (9505 and 9555) are much easier to find used -- if you're patient you can often find them at really good prices too.
