Imagine2frolic's 46' Catamaran FOR SALE
Do you remember our good friend, imagine2frolic, who sadly passed away earlier this year? Well, his widow has put their catamaran ( lying TABOGA, REPUBLIC OF PANAMA) up for sale here: Sailing with Cancer- One Man's race against time!
Details, copied from the page:
Quote:
"Imagine" is a typical style sailing sloop catamaran with an additional cutter rig. The aft cockpit is open and contains the helm station and is covered by a large bimini top. Aft of the cockpit, between the hulls hangs the dinghy from stainless davits. Access to the foredeck is gained down the side of eighter hull or over the main cabin deck. The foredeck is spacious, and there is a large net area for lounging between the hull bow's.
The cabin is accessed via the cockpit. It has a galley and salon with dinette table. The port hull houses the master stateroom and bath. The starboard side hull houses both bow and stern staterooms and a smaller bath.
The main engines are located in the stern of each hull and feature diesel power conjoined with Yanmar sail drives.
Overall, "Imagine" is in average good shape with very few deficiences.

There are some very good photos on the blog page. I urge you to take a look. There is no price listed, I am sure Mel would appreciate some guidance from John's friends as to its true value.
I have no part in this sale, I am simply relaying a message. If you are interested, please email Mel at mt_lanie@yahoo.com

knowing John, up until a short time before he was airlifted back to the states, all work done on Imagine was to the highest standards.
I am sure there a few cobwebs to blow off, perhaps some superficial exterior maintenance and catching up to do for the last year, but I would be astounded if she were in 'average good shape'. I suspect that she is more like in 'excellent bristol' in all the ways that matter, and that any problems are superficial.
This sense comes from my appreciation of John as a craftsman and his pride in her. He would have never done anything half-assed, not his style...
Imagine is saturated with his love for the sea and Mel and carries all that good Karma in her bones...
Someone is going to be very very lucky when they buy this boat ; -)

Re: Imagine2frolic's 46' Catamaran
Think of John and Mel often.
Some folks may not know but John shared my passion for early 60s Shelby Cobra sports cars.
Comments on those clubs when I informed them of his passing indicated how much he is missed.
Our love to Mel.

Re: Imagine2frolic's 46' Catamaran
I was fortunate enough to know the original owners for which Imagine was custom built by the Henze yard in Germany. I also visited the yard during the built several times. I was also building a Simpson 13.7m catamaran at that time myself. I can only praise the high built quality and craftmanship the yard put into this boat.
I still have somewhere some pictures/slides I took during my visits. But that was in the pre-didgital area. So not sure if I will be able to make these pictures easily avaiable. But I know also for a fact that Imagine was not built 1998. She is ten years older. But that should not matter for such a well built wood epoxy boat!!!
It is very sad that John has lost his fight. I think I can understand how it must have been for him, I was just diagnosed with cancer myself two month ago.

Would it be possible for you to send Mel an email (address in post 1) to that effect? It might be that she made a mistake in her report, or perhaps she actually believes that... either way, I am sure she would appreciate a note
BTW, I am sorry for your news - keep fighting, and live life!

Re: Imagine2frolic's 46' Catamaran
I stumbled on the original ad for Imagine when it was named Murmel on seeboats.com. This is an excerpt from the ad...
" Murmel
1997 46' Bootswerft Henze GmbH Modified Simpson 13.7
Description:
The hull was built in 1988, the owner engineer owner then spent fitting her out, using only the finest materials and the most skilled craftsmen. The electronics were installed in 1997 when she was launched. German registery in 1997. Easily handled by a couple, she is particularly outfitted for the cruising couple with the entire starboard hull dedicated to their comfort. An excellent price for a large late model cat."

It looks pretty modern for an "old" cat.

She sure looks nice. Does anyone know the asking price, I don't see it on the website.
