With great sadness we’re putting our boat up for sale. In an unusual plot twist, it turns out the Mr. didn’t like sailing. We poured two years of hard work into upgrading and improving the Picaroon, our 40’ 1978 Hardin Sea Wolf, and now YOU get to benefit. She treated us well during our year and a half in the Caribbean and is ready for her new owners to start their Caribbean adventure.

Picaroon is in ready-to-sail condition, with brand-new Dynex Dux rigging, chain plates, navigation systems, life raft, interior upholstery, etc. Because we moved from PR to Bangkok, Thailand, you’re also getting all the household supplies, including my beloved Calphalon cookware, which means you could sail her away tomorrow.

The Picaroon is a Hardin Sea Wolf, designed in the sixties by William Garden, and built in ’78 in Taiwan. She’s ketch-rigged; forty feet long from stem to stern, with a six-foot bowsprit. Her full keel draws six feet.*She’s not fast, but she’s sea-kindly and steers herself well, and is very comfortable. She’s beautiful inside and out – while she’s a solid and non-leaky fiberglass boat, you think you’re on an old wooden ketch, especially when snugged up in the all-teak saloon enjoying a fire in the wood-burning stove on a chilly evening.

She’s in Salinas, PR and we’re selling her for $49,000 - a bargain, but we want her to have new owners who will love her and take care of her soon!

Hi Heatherbrie, It's a small world, we live in the Dominican republic, having finally escaped from the Uk to begin our Caribbean sailing adventure. We "popped" over to PR last week on a flying visit of 24 hours by ferry to have a look at your Sea wolf. We met Jean, who took us on a whistle stop tour of Picaroon, which we fell in love with. However, we didn't get to start the engine, hoist any sails or get to see your Calphalon cookware. We had to race back to Mayaguez to catch the overnight ferry so time was tight, to say the least.
Next day we contacted BVI yacht sales and made an offer which I hope you will have received and will consider. Perhaps if we had seen the Calphalon cookware our offer may have been a little more generous.
She's a beautiful craft, just the sort of boat we would proud to sail.
