I have a Trintella-type, Dutch made, steel sailboat with a running Lister diesel that is free to anyone who wants it. It's on a mooring that we need vacated in the intracoastal waterway in Riviera Beach--just north of West Palm Beach, Florida. The title is in my son's name, and we just want to transfer title as he is no longer interested in working on the boat. It has sails, but needs work (obviously).

I'll be out on the water tomorrow and will try to get some photos. The boat was sailed here from Holland, and the seller said that it had gone around the world twice. It has a full keel, and is dry as there is no power and it hasn't sunk in the rains we've had the last few months. I'm sure there's a lot of work involved in getting her back into shape below decks, and she's rough in the cabin and on deck. To be candid, if the Lister didn't run we'd probably scuttle her to get her off the mooring, but with the engine she's probably worth a restoration effort to someone who has a shop. My son says she's 27 feet loa. Don't know the lwl. She's a early 1960's boat, with the narrow beam and overhangs. I would guess that she sails well, as she has nice lines.

There's an anchorage just south of Peanut Island where the boat can stay for a bit, but we would insist on transfer of title before the move and that it be taken off the mooring as we need the mooring for another boat. We would certainly help with the move. There's a boatyard--Crackerboy--about a quarter mile away where the boat could be hauled and put on trailer or one could work on it in the yard.

Is there ground tackle aboard?
any sails? could she get up past Jax in her current condition under sail?

You would want to haul her and scrape the bottom before trying to take her up past Jax. Her bottom hasn't been done in 3-4 years. The prior owner says the engine runs great, and you would want to motor up the ICW once past Stuart as the Gulfstream kicks offshore and you wouldn't be making very good time. If you pulled her for a bottom job I'd guess that you could keep her going up past Jax. The Lister is apparently bulletproof.

Don't know about the chine. Guessing round. Will ask the son about ground tackle. The steel plates are thick, so I'd guess she's heavy for a 27-footer. I'd guess 4-5 tons.

I would get the hull plates sonoguaged before committing to accepting the boat. The boat may have negative value. In other words, an equitable trade would be for someone to pay you to take the boat.

There are some pics on my profile. I asked my son to take some of the inside and the Lister, but he said he was embarrassed (ie: the inside looks like a 21-year old lives in it).

I have no idea of the cost to "fix" it. Are you serious?
