Electric Motor Setup for Catamaran (Thoosa 9000)

Price: $1,200 | Location: Long Beach, CA

This is basically two complete Thoosa 9000 kits, each is ready to take the place of internal combustion engines between 17 - 25 hp.

Each motor is rated for 13 kW, but the system limits the output to 9 kW per. This system is 48 volts and also recharges your batteries when under sail.

Read more about it here: Thoosa Inboard Electric Motors | BlueFin Electric Marine

When new this setup costs around $18,000 ($9,000 each kit). I acquired it in exchange for services, and now want this out of my space (I had no intention of using it). As such, I'm selling for $1200 as is, where is (Long Beach, CA or Orange County, CA). I'll prepare it for shipment if someone wants to make arrangements (I recommend uShip.com for contiguous US destinations).

My understanding is that the only issue with this system lies in the throttle controls. One of the levers fell off (adhesive failure), it might very well just need to be reattached and it'll be good to go. It's also possible the internals need repair. With this and the addition of batteries the setup should be ready to go.

This system was professionally installed between 2006-2009 (I'm told used mildly beginning 2009) and professionally removed in 2015. The reason this system was removed from the vessel is because a European bought the catamaran in North America and didn't want to fuss with getting it functioning (having technicians come out was very, very expensive), so they re-powered back to diesel and went on their way.

The setup includes:

- 2 x 13 kW @ 72 volts motors
- 2 x Mounting brackets w/ extra belts (and stainless steel shrouds)
- Throttle Controller
- Motor Controller
- Xantrex Link 10 battery monitor
- Zivan 48 Volt - 18 amp Battery Charger
- Misc parts, huge Ancor power cables, key ignition, documentation

Great deal for the right person. Everything is in good condition, just some light surface rust on the motors. Priced to sell! Use it or part it out, I just want it out of here.
