Cruising Sailboat

Do you know anyone who has a kind heart and a sailboat they don't need or use? We are seeking one donated sailboat for an individual family.

Donate A Sailboat

Thank you for your consideration.

Re: Cruising Sailboat

Your blog specifies a boat in sail away condition. It's hard to buy a boat that is in sail away condition much less get one free.

I think you have a much higher chance of success if you are willing to take a fixer upper.

I noticed that myself. Would have thought that Ben could afford to buy a boat.

Very interesting request. Be interested to see if anyone gives a boat away.

Re: Cruising Sailboat

how about you tell us in 100 words or more, why you think you deserve a free sailboat in sail away condition?

i looked up the word 'deserve' before i answered your post.

Deserve: Verb. Do something or have or show qualities worthy of (reward or punishment).

So, to answer your post - No, I won't.

I'm not here to beg, tell a sob story or have others judge me or my family as to our merit.

The request stands in and of itself. It is merely a request.

There are people who own sailboats that they do not use and/or want. The hope is that one of these people would be willing to give that boat to a family who could make excellent use of it and enjoy it to its fullest potential - without judgement.

If that hope doesn't become reality; then que sera sera.

Regards.

You know, I wish that i had that kind of nerve, or even smarts. I have worked and saved, gone without things etc. just to get enough money to buy my boats. What a fool, all I had to do was ask. Ah well, might go and try that tactic on the Porsche owners Club, wish me luck folks.

Coops.

Re: Cruising Sailboat

There were thousands of wrecked boats as a result of hurricane Sandy; NY and NJ. As many of these boats were insured, they were replaced. The damaged ones are being salvaged for parts or being auctioned off for very little money. Take it from here! Good luck! Mauritz

Re: Cruising Sailboat

Sometimes, I find requests on here are out of this world. I am not sure if that is due to not taking medications on time, too much sun, too little sugar, or a combination of the three. Despite that, I try to offer plausible solutions. What makes me a fixture on here is that, there are sailors that I'd really like to meet, sail with and have dinner with! You guys know who you are! One of these days... Mauritz

Re: Cruising Sailboat

Although its not an unreasonable request, I think you are stretching it to ask for a blue water boat in sail away condition. I think your best bet is to look for a marina seizure, offer what you can, and prepare to put a lot of time, and at least some money into insuring a safe vessel, if not a pretty one. Good luck, though, and I hope your dreams come true.
