He has a cruising guide that is very good. It's about $60 and it's a PDF that you can print out or read on your iPad. You can also google him for more info. I just got mine and am glad I did.

Also the CCA has books for those areas. Amazon has them.

it seems like we may have some similar plans.

I'm contemplating a trip up to the Rock and then on to Greenland this summer.

You might find this of interest.

On odd years there is a race from Marblehead to Halifax.
On EVEN years there is a race from Halifax to St Pierre, timed to enjoy Bastille Day in St. Pierre. I've not done the race, but was in St. Pierre for the fleet.

Pilot Press - Cruising Guides to Newfoundland, Labrador, Nova Scotia and the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

The Newfoundland and Labrador guides are for pay. But the Gulf guide is a download.

I would recommend the guides if you are going. And also you should contact the Lewisporte Yacht Club and buy a copy of their guide to Notre Dame Bay. Lewisporte has a real yacht club and a decent chandler. Pretty hard stuff to come by that way.

I can understand that. I am going to Nova Scotia this coming summer and a new set of charts just for the East Coast and Bra'dors cost around $1000 US. The electric version is $250.

You will love it, I drove to Cape Breton in my Westfalia Camper Van this fall, amazing country and people. We also went wale watching in Point Pleasant. I would love to hear from others who have sailed in and around there including if anyone has experience sailing from Lake Ontario to Halifax and beyond.

You should contact the people at yachtpilot.ca . They are in Nova Scotia and publish guides for there and Newfoundland. They have made many trips north to NFLD and Labrador and are very helpfull.

Their Marinetime only the South coast of Newfoundland, not the rest.
