Is it my imagination or does this West Sail look like a bad acid trip?

It's not your imagination. That's just what Westsails were designed for
Joking, joking...
But, it does look like an obvious kit-built boat. The interior is far from the normal layout, and the flush decks.... Could be a good deal, for the right person

Re: cheap Westsail 32 project on EBAY
That boat looks nothing like our W32. The cabin top itself is completely different. Its hull to deck joint doesn't look the same, there is no cap rail, bulwark height is off. The rudder isn't the same. There is a split back stay instead of the boomkin on the W32. There is no bow sprit like the factory W32s. They didn't mention a hull number. Are we sure this is a Westsail?
If it is!... Then the person that put this boat together used the hull. And that was about it.

for the price......it may be a good project for someone with little money. We all know Westsail hulls are one of the strongest ever built.

Re: cheap Westsail 32 project on EBAY
Ok so the boat looks bad and doubtless a dam good clean up would have made the boat look more appealing. What i was hoping for that some one would respond who can see past that and give some indication of the problems that any purchaser would face. First hand knowledge of WS32 may provide some indications. For example the boat does not have sails with it, what would the cost implications be?
Some of this information would possible be useful to potential buyers of other neglected boats. Advice on this forum (which is consistent with my experience) is that buying a boat in better condition for more money upfront is normally less expensive. This is rarely quantified by the posts.
Comparing the boat to "some of the junk ferros i have seen" is not all that helpful. I have seen also seen junk steelies and FG boats, and have owned at least one of them.
Regardless of what anyone personal opinions are of the WS there are a lot out there and many come on the market. Discussing the WS32 in a positive and constructive way may help forum members in the future. Too often we slam other boats just because they do not fit within our sailing/cruising plan. Sorry for the rant
Enjoy you boat what ever it is and may your dreams be realized

Flush decks, so probably low headroom. Round bulkhead openings?
I know!!! It's a Hobbit boat.

Don't believe boat is a Westsail. If it is, it is one of the poorest examples I have ever seen. If the OP wishes to turn this vessel into a proper yacht
based on my experince with our boat, 40-60k in cost not including the purchase price and 5-6 years full time work.

Shades of Waterworld. See the growth on the undersides in the eighth picture from the end?
