[SOLD] Cape Dory 28 for sale in Melbourne, Florida $9500

I have for sale my Cape Dory 28 sloop. After having owned 2 boats for over a year it's time to sell the Cape Dory. I bought another boat but held on to the Cape Dory in case the new boat didn't work out. Since I've gotten the hang of handling the larger ketch rigged boat that I bought I'm now ready to let go of the Cape Dory.

She is in good condition. I'm asking $9500.

She has a ~550 hour Yanmar 2GM20 raw water cooled diesel that runs great. She has an assortment of head sails and a fully battened main with two reef points. She has folding mast steps. Her masthead gear (VHF antenna, anchor light, and weather vane) are only a few years old. Her nav lights are relatively new 2nm LED lights. She has a new compass, a tiller pilot, and depth sounder although the sun has taken it's toll on the depth sounder display so it needs replaced to read easily.

She has no dinette table currently. She didn't have one when I bought her and I didn't miss it.

She's a great boat for a sailor. Standing rigging was replaced in 2004 and is oversized and in good condition. She has two-speed sheet winches, and her halyard winches have built-in handles.

$9500 or best reasonable offer.

Yep. If I was looking for a boat that size, I'd be driving to Melbourne right now.

Yes, she is a great boat. I sailed her many miles over the years and she gives you confidence during rough weather and is speedier than expected in fine weather. I'm selling her because I bought a larger boat and just need to sell her. I still am on the fence about selling her because the larger ketch rigged boat I bought is a lot more work to sail than the smaller sloop, and looking at future costs of maintenance and just handling a boat short-handed when I get older makes me hesitate to sell a good small boat in favor of a larger more complicated one, but it doesn't make sense to have two boats for very long and a 35 footer is just easier to live on than a 28 footer, especially with a lady.

Hey guys,

I am not able to delete this post maybe due to time or something so I'm going to mark her as sold even though she is not.

I'm taking my boat off the market for a while. I'm going to do some varnish work and install a table and then relist her, probably for more money. No one who has contacted me about her has any money, and I believe her low price may be making people who can afford a sailboat suspect there is something wrong with her, which there is not.
