Angry Ball and Joint Sockets

Good afternoon all.

I am having little luck in finding replacement ball and socket joints for a Whitlock steering system circa 1971-75. Despite advice Cliff Moggridge (ex Lewmar) has not been able to help. So if there are any former Whitlock employees or others even out there who know for which motor vehicle the sockets were intended I would be most delighted to know. Short of obtaining replacement parts it would appear the only other option will a lift out to be able to strip the gear and rudder from the boat. Any helpful suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks Tao Jones for your welcome some time back.

Regards to all

Designguru.

You might try McMaster Carr industrial supply....they have almost everything, a little expensive, but usually the come through for me for hard to find fittings, hardware, etc.
Good luck!!!

Send a message via Skype™ to Sailorman Ed
McMaster

It took some searching but I found the balljoints I needed from McMaster but had to modify the thread to match the SS rod.

Thanks all. Eventually had parts manufactured by a company called Amsteer in the Midlands (UK) contact Mr or Mrs Mills. Not cheap as specials but non-specials are very reasonable.
Regards.
