The wind vane in pics with audio plug is for older style control head with compass dial on top.

the power, connection plug is the 2 pronged plug at the top of the control box in the picture...I suppose? it could easily be changed for a 12v socket connection?.... So apparently from the other replies?...the pictured red windvane does not fit this unit?...just never used the vane...Unit came with the boat when bought.. sorry for that...interested parties please note...I will try and delete the red vane picture in the listing...though not sure if I can...

Odds are the wind vane could be adapted to the controller. The wind vane for the 3000 has a four pin connection.

How large a boat will this work with? I have an Endurance 35, and we need a wheel Pilot, she steers pretty easily and is about 6 turns stop to stop.

I use one of these on my Heritage 35 16,000# works fine if the boat is balanced. doesn't like big following seas much.

I use an Autohelm 1000 on my 27,000 lb, 38 ft ferro and it works fine. It's basically the same unit without some of the b&w. It handled some pretty rough water in the Florida stream going into Cuba.
