Aries "Lift-Up' Wind Vane

Wind Vane\224.JPG" border="0" alt="" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" />I have for sale a "like new" Lift-up version of the wind vane">Aries wind vane. This comes complete w/ extra wind vane plus a box of assorted extra parts, including spare bearings, lock pins, bushings, 2 extra "break-away pendulum tubes. (these never break) etc. Basically enough parts to re-build the unit if necessary. This unit works flawlessly and has the up-graded "Stainless Steel" worm gears. I also have the original aluminum worm gears. Everything you see in the photos is included. I also have a tiller bracket that the control lines attach too. (not show in photos). Includes the installation manual. Asking $1,500.00 US funds. Prefer local pick-up, however I'm willing to ship provided the buyer pays for crating and shipping and insurance. Location: St. Augustine, Fla.

Re: Aries "Lift-Up' Wind Vane

Do you think this would work on a 40 ft. sailboat?

I had one on my Westsail 32, and it worked great.

44' 40,000lb cutter, works a charm. This boat is a bit odd in 2respects.

First it has a permanent fitted tiller, just for the Aries, so the Aries does not go to the wheel.

Second, it fitted high out of the water, so it has an extension to get the paddle in the water. Still works fine.

I run the adjustment lines, can't recall the correct word, to the companionway, then I have remote control!

I have on of these and it worked great so I removed it from the boat before I sold it. I now putting it on Beneteau 44cc for extended cruising.

Re: Aries "Lift-Up' Wind Vane

I had one on my Valiant 40 for 18 years. Bought it from the previous owner when he found his new boat already had one. Worked like a charm. It was wheel connected. Once you get settled with your sail trim, these units will carry you across oceans, down bays and along coasts. When I sold my boat, the new owner later decided to go all-electric auto pilots, so I bought it again. Now, if I can just manage to get another boat in the water.........

Re: Aries "Lift-Up' Wind Vane

This looks good. Do you have any info on the adaptor required to affix to a wheel? I have a Pacific Seacraft 31 that I'm fixing up for retirement travel. This would be a great addition!
thanks,
Rob
