For Sale: Airex 28 volt Marine Wind charger- new in box

I bought this intending to run 28 volts in my boat but ran into too many conversion issues with my installation.

This unit is $1100 at our local alternative energy store. Will trade for a 12 volt version or sell outright for $750 plus shipping. In the box it weighs about 39-40 lbs.

This unit is complete with the installation and operation manual and all hardware.

Why not buy an inexpensive MPPT Charge controller. It will read current only an charge at @ 12v.

According to the company tech rep from the new Air X owners, if I use a transformer to lower the voltage, or one of the MPPT controllers ( I believe they are intended primarily for solar applications) then the Air X will lose the ability to self control when in high winds or an overcharge situation. the voltage range of the 12 volt MPPTs are about 11 volts to about 17 volts, and will probably burn out when faced with 24-28 volts input.

They did offer a new coil and controller for the Air X at about $650 plus shipping, which just doesn't make sense to me.

Consequently I am selling this unit and taking a loss on it but will be ahead in the long run with a 12 volt unit.

I am running 500w 24v through a Morningstar 60 and it charges just fine @ 12 volts. Current is current and there is a controller out there for your purposes. You can buy a controller for the same money and add panels.
