The not so good first:
Though the bottom is kept clean, it does need a paint job soon. If I still have the boat in September, I will haul and paint her then.

About the boat:
This is an Bruce King designed Ericson 28+ Racer/Cruiser with a fractional sloop rig, fin keel, and spade rudder. The 28+ is 28.5 feet long. Laid up in the Ericson 30+ mold, she has all the dimensions of a 30 footer, Ericson just lopped off the aft lazarette for the 28+. This gives her a voluminous interior with 6' 1'' of headroom. I'm 6' 2" and find her very comfortable.

Quite good condition throughout, she is sailed most weeks. An all-around good performer, she does everything from sailing in and out of her slip to competing in offshore races.

Why I am selling: New boat on the way. Avalon needs a good home.

Inventory:

Sails:
Main is in decent condition, though getting soft. Great for beating around the Bay. Double reefing points.
100% Pineapple jib on the roller is crisp and clean.
Crisp new 7.5 oz. Pineapple cruising main and new Pineapple Genoa folded nicely in bags down below.
Asymmetrical spinnaker

On Deck:
Roller furling jib and all lines led aft
Barient two-speed sheet winches, one halyard winch on cabintop.
Dodger
Weather clothes around cockpit (currently stored below)
Tiller
Propane locker, though not plumbed
Manual bilge pump
Tiller steering
Teak hand rails and weather boards, recently varnished (minimal exterior teak)
Gel coat with molded in non-skid in great condition
Wide side decks
6' 4'' Cockpit seats
All canvas in very good condition

Interior:
Lots of teak joinery throughout creates a very warm and inviting space, especially at night.
New teak and holly cabin sole
Newly cleaned and barrier coated bilges
Large v-berth forward, followed by hanging locker to port and enclosed head with shower pan to starboard
Opposing settees in salon, one about 8', the other about 4'
Fold down table between the settees
L-shaped galley with Origo non-pressurized alcohol stove and deep stainless sink
Large double-sized aft quarter berth
Can sleep five plus one child

Plumbing:
New holding tank (never used)
Stainless sinks in head and galley with hot and cold pressurized water
Water heater (AC/engine)
Head works great
Also manual foot water pump in galley
Not sure of water capacity, guessing 30 gallons or so. System is clean with no taste.

Electronics:
45 watt solar panel mounted on stern rail
Solar charge controller
3 Batteries
Autohelm
VHF
Horizon multifunction display with depth and speed, though speed has not worked
Automatic bilge pump

Ground tackle:
Lewmar claw anchor on bow roller with 30' chain and 200' three-strand nylon rode
Danforth style stern anchor with about 15' chain and 150' three-strand nylon rode

Engine:
11hp Universal diesel. No smoke. Rebuilt maybe 30 hours ago. Run under load for 30 minutes each month if it hasn't been used.
2 blade prop

Lying Berkeley, CA

Possible extras:
I might be able to throw in a nearly-new 9 foot Achilles inflatable and second solar panel. Just need to wait until August to see what the new boat needs

Asking $15k OBO

Thank you for looking,
Brian
