56' Ketch in Virgin Gorda - Asking $60K (USD)

I read the guidelines and I hope I'm doing this correctly. I guess I'm not permitted to provide a link to the brokers ad so PM me if you want the link. If my interpretation of the guidelines is incorrect please tell me and will add the link.

A friend is selling his boat thought I might try to help.
I have no financial interest in this.

I have been to dinner a few times on this boat and if you need head room it's like EIGHT FOOT in the saloon and well over 6' elsewhere. This is one BAB.

Yeah -- let's see some pictures and more info. That big a boat at that price gets this poor frozen northerner thinking things like "buy it on credit card, move to Caribbean ASAP." (Subsequent declaration of bankruptcy is optional.)

I'm awfully close to giving it a try. . . .

Interesting boat. Is the hull sound (aside from mast step)? Cold molded with ironwood sounds like it would survive Armageddon.

To the best of my knowledge yes but what do I know... I was to help jack up the mast and change the step but had to leave too soon. I know he sailed her from STX to Virgin Gorda so the boat is not crippled. The underside of the teak deck is exposed. shouldn't trap any moister.

I was told a story as to how they broke off a concrete piling in Venezuela and didn't mark the hull.

Its a hell of a boat for the price if the mast steps the only problem... assuming its deck stepped..

at 46' we were the biggest boat with the tallest mast in the marina until Perfect ride pull in. Then we looked like a day sailor.

I checked in on that ad every couple of days just for the lovely dream of buying a big boat and moving my whole family aboard and living in the Caribbean . . . or anywhere we wanted. But for now we are rooted on dirt (currently covered with 2 feet of snow), and we cruise a few weeks a year in the summer. Liveaboard cruising is in our future, though, so I tend to do a lot of "research" every day.

For anyone else who enjoys the crazy big boat dream, here's today's candidate: a nice little 72' ferro schooner, listed at $60,000.
