Traveler Setup

My boat is a 99. Blew out an end stop and traveller car on an accidental jibe. Lewmar doesn't make this style anymore so it looks like I'll be rebuilding the track and cars. Now my question. Does everyone have the 2 car system on their cat? As far as I can tell, the one acts like a vang and the other for sheeting in. Most everyone I've talked to about this system looks at me like I have two heads and tells me to just use one car. Thanks for any input

I think there are two to spread the load out and flex if the track to has a slight bend.
To me it looks like Lewmar made one car style, since it's the same car on the jib sheets just without the metal joiner.

If I blew out my setup (which I belive to be the same as yours.) I would change it over to one similar to the Catanas. Ease one sheet, take up the other and you have your preventer.
