The Launch of Starry Horizons

On the 29th, our new Helia was loaded up on a truck at the factory, driven down to La Rochelle and launched, all in one day. It was a pretty incredible thing to watch and for anyone who is interested, I put together a video of the experience.

This shows how FP transports the boats from the factory via a 2 hour truck ride on a very indirect route to the water in order to find wide enough roads and tall enough overpasses. The truck bed has a hydraulic lift which is used to tilt the boat to pass by other cars and obstacles on the road.

We're still a bit in awe and counting down the days until we get to move aboard!

Thanks for the kind words! I'm really looking forward to making more videos of our travels, but I think this one will always be a favorite.

Awesome. Wish it were mine.

Why does the chase vehicle drive over all the curbs?

A bit off of the boat topic; however, I am wondering what software you used to edit the video? I presume you shot most of the video with a GoPro.

To get a clear view of the sides of the boat.

Correct. The whole delivery team communicated via radio (I think that's what I understood) so the chase van acted as a "side mirror" for the truck. Watching the chase van run from side to side was one of the more entertaining parts of the process!

I've been using Sony Vegas Pro to edit videos. And to shoot the video we used both a GoPro and my Nikon D5200. Amy would use the GoPro to get one perspective and I'd use the Nikon to get another. The chase car parts were all GoPro as I didn't want to stick the Nikon out the window!

Great insight into the process. They didn't let you take the first ride out of the lift's slip?

I had already walked away to get the video, but they did offer it to one member of our group who was still by the travel lift (who declined since my wife and I weren't there) so I guess proper placement was the key.
