Helia 44: Stove, Grill & Propane

Helia 44 Stove and oven made by ENO. Now they have built in igniter’s

It looked like the oven did NOT have a broiler mode. Is this correct? Seemed strange, as we use that as much as the oven.

Broilers heat from the top.
Ovens heat from the bottom.

Broilers deliver intense heat to the top of the food. Most standard ENO ovens just heat from the bottom.
You may have to ask for the Broiler model

The earlier boats from FP have the oven without the Broiler (Grill). Yet the Helia shown at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show this month had a Broiler in the oven. We spoke to the Australian distributor of the ENO ovens and they only have the model with a Broiler (grill). As our Lipari is going into production this month we have asked what oven will be fitted to our as hopefully the factory has changed model. Will let you know what the answer is.

This model of Eno Oven has a Broiler. Maybe you just have to select the right option when you purchase the boat.

ENO Perigord Wall-Mount Propane Oven at West Marine

We didn't even know it was an option. I have requested our agent (Multihull Solutions Australia) to ask the question of the factory. It is not listed as an option on our build sheet and the agent didn't know there was an option. It was only when the boss was looking at the new Helia on show that she went "wow this has a Grill, I want one" as all the others we have looked at didn't have one.

Maybe the Helia owner just got lucky but we will continue to check.

That cabinet has also been redesigned and the new one has room for a microwave under the oven. The cabinet was made slightly deeper and the oven moved up slightly.

Yes it has the grill in the standard oven fitted in the Helia. We also optioned the microwave which fits neatly under the oven. If you have any questions re fittings and other items for the Helia, we are pleased to give answers.

Does anyone know the propane capacity if the largest propane bottles are used in the propane locker?

Any standard 20 lb propane tank will work. You can use steel, aluminum or composite tanks.

Wish I had that option. When boats come to Australia the Gas locker has to be moved as it doesn't comply with Australian Regs. As a result on our Lipari it is moved to the Anchor locker and put in a small fibreglass cabinet, so the biggest I can get in are the smaller 4KG bottles and only 1 at a time. The bigger 9KG bottles are too big, we might get away with the nice Stainless tanks but they are SO expensive, composites don't fit so I just carry a number of spares 4kgs. They last us about 6 to 8 weeks of live aboard use so not too bad.

No solenoid shut-off in these photos ????
In the photo at lower left a black hose appears joined to a yellow hose with gear clamps !
In the photos on the right side, the supply hose is dramatically stressed and won't last long.
Is that hose really connected to the regulator with wire crimps ?

If my interpretation of these photos is correct, I'd be concerned as would any insurance company that read my survey report.

I see that now.

Recipe for disaster those dodgy hose clamps.

Hate to think what is joining those two hoses on the inside.
