Hi all,
In some cases the main sheet touches the bimini, which will lead to wear of the bimini in the long run. I solved this with clear plastic tube as bimini protector: see atached pictures.
length 107 cm, inner diameter 29 mm, outer diameter 37 mm.
With a sharp knife I cut it open in the length. I cut it on the inside (the tube was curved due to storage or production). To keep the tube in position I used three tie-wraps around the bimini pipes (at both end and at the middle, in positions where the blue bimini cloth does not block access to the bimini pipe). The tie-wraps go through holes of around 5 mm (depending on your tie-wrap size). These holes are drilled with a standard sharp drill on low RPM.
I mounted it more than a month ago, we did over 1000 miles since then, and it is holding well.
Probably I will dismount both the tube and the bimini cloth in winter to prevent rot by humidity. The bimini cloth will of course be wetter inside the tube than elsewhere.

Great idea with the Main Sheet bimini chaff tubing.
I did the same exact thing, but with 1"-1/4 clear tubing and just spread it open and pushed it on.
The small diameter of the tubing just holds it on by itself, so I never added the zip ties.

Hi all, we're talking about it and what happens? The kitchen light broke down. I checked the advice given here, but found things a bit different.
The chromed plastic ring can rotate in the housing, but there is no specific orientation to detach it. No slots or bajonet construction. I found the position where the rotation went easiest, hoping that would give maximum play, and pried it open with a screwdriver. It did not break....
Next, to replace the bulb you have to remove the reflector from the chromed platic ring. This does have a very obvious orientation with bajonet construction.

We had a beautiful sail today. Left some island on he Swedish coast this morning 6:30, just after dawn. Wind a bit weak in the beginning, when sailing between the small islands of the archipelago. Wind went from 90 degrees to 130; so we raised the spinnaker. That went faster, especially when there was more wind later. Maximum speed 14.4 knots, average just over 7. Bit cold but sunny. We saw a rainbow in the spray from the bow...
We reached Visby, capital of the island of Gotland, exactly at sunset 7:30 PM. 90 miles 13 hours. Visby is an early-medieval city (Vikings and Hanseatic league). It lies in the middle of the Baltic sea.
This is just info from the books; we'll check ourselves tomorrow. Now a beer.

We installed some simple locker Curtains to hide all our stuff.
The Curtains are actually made from a stretchy fabric which works better than a tight weave non-stretchy one
(tried both and stretchy works better).

The rods are just small inexpensive adjustable ones which we used at both the top and bottom.

Just slide the curtain to one side get some stuff and then slide the curtain back

Here is our Fire prevention and suppression system aboard.
1) Have installed two talking Kidde Carbon monoxide & smoke detectors, one in each stateroom
2) Purchased 3 larger ABC fire extinguishers with gages
3) Mounted one in the cock pit under the table and one in each stateroom behind the doors and then two more in the main saloon

Thanks for posting the project photos. Have you put any hardware in place to hold the cabin/head doors from swinging and banging?

We put clear rubber bumpers on all the lower door edges that would hit the walls.
For the most part we always close all doors and lock all cabinets when under way.
When ever we forget to close a door then the rubber bumpers come into play and stop any damage.

I've installed a hook and eye at the same height as the wood trim on the hull and screwed the hook (I think it is a 3 inch hook) into the wood trim and the eye into the door. Simple and inexpensive.
Mark, we did the exact same thing with the curtains over the lockers, we also made our own curtains for all the windows in the Saloon and used velcro to secure them (had to sew the velcro on the curtains and glue to the cabin wall), just peel to open and stick to close. Also had a roll up screen with zippered door fitted over the sliders and installed roll down sun curtains around our bimini. Works great in cutting down on the heat of the day.

I have these Diesel Engine fuel 1st stage water separators, but normally they have a filter in them also. The bowl is 3 inch in dia. and the whole unit is 4 inches tall.

Has anyone changed the filter?

What is the part # of the filter?

You do not change the filter, you clean them. The filter is reuseable, drop the bowl and you'll see the filter, clean in good fuel and put back in place. The bowl is plastic and you need to take care that you don't over tighten and at the same time you have a good seal at the top of bowl.
