The issue has been discussed several times: I was told to keep the gear
disengaged and fully pushed down to bottom in reverse. In that case there is no noise
/ vibration form the sail drive and I can do 0,5-1 knots more under sail.
As far as I know, all new FP's are coming now with standard top square main and if they didn't decreased the total sail area, they could even perform better.
