Older FP stanchion bases

G'day all,
I'm after a coupleof stanchion bases for a bahia. I've noticed a bunch of the older models use the same types. Contacted FP direct by email and received no reply and then when I called them on the phone they put me on hold and hung up, several times. Does anyone know where I can find these bases?

All the best

Hi There,
The staunchion and stauchion bases are made by Goiot, the distributor is McIntyre Marine for OZ, they have a great store located at the Gold Coast city Marina , but just check their web site as you will find what you are after .
Cheers
Happy sailing

Re: Older FP stanchion bases

G'day all, Unfortunately it seems that Goiot / Mcintyre do not stock these bases. They are the triangular aluminium type that intergrate with the moulded toerail, I think they're the same for all FP's. So if anyone knows where I can get them in NZ (or wherever for that matter) I would be in your debt!

Re: Older FP stanchion bases

Several years ago I received a replacement stanchion mount from FP by working through their representative in St. Martin, Peter Cohen at Caribbean Multihulls. In my experience FP seldom responds to individual owners either by e-mail or telephone. You almost need to have a personal relationship with someone in the company to get a response.

Try locating one through your local FP dealer. If you have no luck with that route, send me a PM and I'll provide Peter's contact info.

Peter Cohen, is very helpful guy I only wish the Aussie guys were that helpful.
Mcintyre are very helpful too but like most Aussie suppliers they are struggling to come close to the offshore prices.
Perhaps it's time to start a thread on alternative parts suppliers for FP cats.

Does the base corrode or wear out?
I have a loose one so I guess I'll have to replace it?

The one I replaced broke when a large wave broke over the bow and hit my sailboard attached to that stanchion.

Another one was loose for a few years but corrosion finally filled in the gaps so it is now tight.

Does anyone have a part number or reference for these?
I can't find anything on the Goiot website.

If it is loose then FP usually leave room to tighten the nut through the headlining.

Doe818 where abouts in Australia/NZ are you? Have you tried the guys at Multihull Solutions in Mooloolaba/NZ? I may know of a guy with some spare bases but will not be able to contact him until I get back to NZ in a couple of weeks time.

Cheers
Lisa
