Re: New FP42 Sail Cat

I have always been a fan of the bahia 46, not so much of what came after ... but the new line of FP is really beautiful ! IMO saona is the sexiest 46 footer on the market today, very nice new 42, impressive new 67 ! big up FP !

Re: New FP42 Sail Cat

I love the way it looks, and its hard to believe they have that much interior room. It looks like a larger vessel.

My concerns are the fact that its specs show a shorter, narrower cat than the Helia. It has more draft, less sail area and yet weighs more. This seems to be a trend with a lot of the new cats from Lagoon and FP. Be interesting to see how it performs.

Thanks for the pics, I wish it was going to be in Miami in a few weeks, but its probably a ways off!

Re: New FP42 Sail Cat

Having sailed and lived for months on our 2016 Lucia 40, I can see the very close similarities in design and also the advantages of just that little bit more space that the 42 offers over the Lucia 40. Lovely boat.

Re: New FP42 Sail Cat

I was hoping the 42 would come fully dressed around $575k, but alas, somebody on FB posted a figure of $690k which leaves us out. <sigh>

it doesn't seem right as 690kUSD is about the price of a fully equiped L450, 20% VAT included.

I checked to make sure I hadn’t read wrong- “ I built out a 42 yesterday for $690,000 +/- well equipped, A/C, gen, dinghy platform etc. I don't think there will be much of a price difference, and once the first few hulls sell of the 42 delivery will go out quite a but and we are expecting the price to go up.”

But as Cotemar pointed out, build the sheet and then work your deal...

Just a suggestion... I do not know where you plan to use the 42, but I had AC on our ex L450. We cruised the S. Pacific (very hot & humid) for 4 seasons and never turned ON the AC once... If you are in a hot weather marina on shore power, the AC might make sense. When cruising, last thing you want is to be closed inside the boat and have the generator running so that you can run the AC. Not to mention the added weight, loss of storage and maintenance.

Just in case my past experience helps. The FP 42 looks pretty.

On my new boat (Amel 50), I am only specifying a diesel heater. I do not like cold...

Ir's amazing to see how each "evolution" uses space so much more efficiently.
