Interior salon curtains

We'd like to make fabric curtains for the main salon but finding the right way to hang them is challenging. Can you get the track system to bend with all the curve of the windows? What about a regular type of curtain rod made out pvc or aluminum that could adapt to the curve of the window(s). Any suggestions are appreciated.
Any opinions on interior curtains as opposed to outside mesh with snaps?
Thanks!

Sailrite sells the tracks. They have everything you need.

Re: Interior salon curtains

We bought valances and then sewed the snap ribbing on the valances. The tracking was already in place. By purchasing the valances , it saved use the time of making curtains.

Re: Interior salon curtains

My boat came with nice curtains. I saw another boat of the same model without, and took mine down. The boat without looked far more open and uncluttered.

I do have external covers I use to protect windows, reduce heat, and sometimes for privacy.

The curtains were installed with the Sailrite tracks. They worked well and were very compact. I left them up as they are not noticable and we could always change our minds.

Re: Interior salon curtains

When we bought our Bahia it still had a top curtain rail in place. It was a standard household metal rail that had just been bent around the curve. The picture shows it was not flush with the top of the windows and finished just under the roof line at either side of the saloon. Not quite sure what treatment was used to secure the bottom of the curtains as those fittings had already been removed prior to us seeing the boat. We removed the curtain rail on the delivery home to NZ (no, we did not throw it overboard ) as we prefer to only use the mesh type external covers as Thinwater has stated.

Cheers
Lisa

Re: Interior salon curtains

We were talked into having saloon curtains on our Mahe. The fitting was tedious and we never used them for privacy.
I agree with the comment that they take up space (or appear to).
They were useful to keep the heat down on a couple of occasions

We have external covers for the Orana which we will use to keep heat out in the summer on very hot days.

Re: Interior salon curtains

We went with a seamstress in our marina. She's making full sheet coverings that will be attached via Velcro (with a dab of glue here and there to keep the Velcro attached to the inside of the window edge. Interior is patterned fabric and the exterior is white blackout.

We decided on the Velcro so we have full variation on how much is up and if we want them completely down, they can be.

We will also be getting the exterior thermal mesh coverings.

They are due to arrive this week actually. Will post pics when they're in.

Sailmaker's Supply also sells track and tab systems: Sunbrella, Marine Canvas, Fabrics, Hardware and Supplies - Sailmaker's Supply

Drapery Systems

The aluminium track and tabs are what is most often used in my experience
