Fountaine Pajot - Performance

Here are FP's own words about performance (from their website):

As the Fountaine Pajot catamarans are designed by sailors, they are particularly seaworthy. Their well-balanced hulls are at ease on any point of sail and in all sorts of sea conditions. Excellent deck gear and layout facilitate manoeuvres for the crew and make sailing more comfortable all round.

In terms of performance, our catamarans are quite remarkable due to their excellent power-to-weight ratio and their large sail area, nicely balanced between the mainsail and the genoa.

Roller-furling jib and battened mainsail on ball bearing cars making it easy to suit shorten or increase canvas to suit the weather conditions and sail the boat to the best of her potential.

When racing against other cruising catamarans, our boats stand out from the crowd. First and second placed in the Ariane' s Cup 1999, raced on multihulls in the Caribbean, eight of our boats were among the first fifteen. A result which speaks for itself!

Re: Fountaine Pajot - Performance

OP was almost 9 years ago. Cat designs seem to have evolved a lot around 2004, so I'd think that more recent race results etc could be different.

I think even Lagoon has claimed some success - maybe with 'rolling start' of boat racing they have enough momentum from all that displacement to get over the line after the breeze drops....
