Engine Vibration Levels on Lavezzi

Hi Lavezzi Owners,

I have just bought a share in a 2007 Lavezzi. After spending a week on her in the Whitsundays I was surprised at how much vibration from the Volvo Penta D1-30's was transmitted to the hull.

The Vibration seems much more significant on this vessel than on MonoHulls I have sailed or on a Seawind 1160 owned by a mate.

I have looked at the engine mounts and they look to have been correctly installed. I was wondering if the location of the engine rooms at the very stern of the boat exaggerates the vibration?

Has anyone else similar experience?

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

I assume you are talking about being under power?
Have you checked your props for damage?
Is the oil in your saildrives clean?

Re: Engine Vibration Levels on Lavezzi

Hi Dragon Lady,

The vibration is evident in neutral and under power. The props look good (fixed 2 blade) and the saildrives appear fine.

I'm not sure if I am expecting too much - but at 1,500 rpm in neutral the instruments at the nav station are visibly shaking and the door rattling loudly. The helm seat also shakes significantly.

Thanks

Re: Engine Vibration Levels on Lavezzi

Marky Mark,
Try 1,400 rpm or 1,600 rpm and if the vibration goes away than that may be just the harmonic vibration for your engines.

The sliders will rattle if the rubber bumbers are worn out on the bottom and top of the sliders. When the slider is locked open you should not be able to move it even a little bit.
