Electrical Panel Questions

Behind the electrical panel on the Belize is a patch block for powering components throughout the boat. The patch block has connections labeled up to 38. I can't find any drawings or docs that indicate which breakers attach to specific connections on the patch block. Does anyone have or know where to obtain a connection diagram?

My last option is to do continuity checks on all wires to create a new connectivity diagram. From some initial tests I've already determined I will have to disconnect each individual wire and do some tracing since there are some one-to-many connections.

Pete I feel for ya...
I went through the same thing with a Lagoon. They think you can build an entire boat from a wiring diagram so don't provide one. I ended up going through and tracing each wire and creating a diagram which is about 80% complete after 3 years. Work in progress thing...

IIRC, #1 starts upper left corner and works down then upper center, etc.

I haven't looked in the book for a long time , isn't there a electrical layout with circuit numbers?

Re: Electrical Panel Questions

I got an electrical and other schematics for our Athena direct from FP. Should be available also for Belize. Perhaps someone can post the email address of the most successful contact at FP

DotDun,

The only drawing I have in the book is labeled "Circuit de Puissance 12V DC" or 12V DC Power Circuit. The drawing shows the cabling route for the primary positive and negative cables from battery to the power panel. It does not provide the level of detail to identify the breakout of the circuits leaving the power panel to the component level. Is there another drawing that I'm missing?

Thanks

Pete

Re: Electrical Panel Questions

I'm not on the boat to confirm but I think the numbers on the wires on the back of the panel match the numbers on the “patch block”.

Why do you need a “connectivity diagram" anyway?

Re: Electrical Panel Questions

There are no numbers on the wires or breakers on the main panel. If I had that I'd be in great shape. There are only number on the equipment side of patch panel. In addition I discovered there are gang bars on the breaker side of patch panel that you have to look for carefully. Some of the gang bars appear to be needed to support amperage of the equipment. There were 4 changes made by previous owners that are fairly obvious to trace.

I'm going through this to change the anchor light to a combo anchor/tricolor LED. Three wires in mast make it to the masthead. The yellow wire was separated and cut in the junction box on forward bulkhead of saloon. I've extended the yellow wire, now trying to determine where to connect properly.

Can you send me the numbers from the breakers. When i get a full wiring chart done I'll share on this thread.

Thanks

Pete

Re: Electrical Panel Questions

For the FP Belize at least, there is a 12v power diagram in the owners manual that simply shows the cable path for the main cables from batteries to the power panel. Not much help, period.

Re: Electrical Panel Questions

My panel is divided into 2 sections, upper and lower. Upper contains 12 breakers (3 columns of 4 each). The lower section contains 16 breakers (2 columns of 8 each). My circuits are (with corresponding terminal strip number, afaik), nfo = not factory original:

Upper section, left column, top to bottom

1 - Nav instruments
2 - 12v receps at the helm (nfo)
3 - Helm chartplotter
4 - Autopilot

Upper section middle column, top to bottom

5 - VHF Radio
6 - Nav station chartplotter (nfo)
7 - Fish Finder sonar (nfo)
8 - Rear step courtesy lights (nfo)

Upper section right column, top to bottom

9 - Sailing nav lights
10 - Anchoring light
11 - Power nav lights
12 - Deck light

Lower section left column, top to bottom

13 - Port hull lights
14 - Port shower pump
15 - Port hull bilge pump
16 - Port engine room bilge pump
17 - Salon lights
18 - Stereo
19 - LP gas control (nfo)
20 - Washdown pump (nfo)

Lower section right column, top to bottom

21 - Starboard hull lights
22 - Starboard shower pump
23 - Starboard hull bilge pump
24 - Starboard engine room bilge pump
25 - Fresh water pump
26 - Galley salt water pump
27 - Freezer
28 - Refrigerator

Re: Electrical Panel Questions

With the information DotDun provided (Many Thanks!) I was able to verify and add a few additional circuit differences.

Upper section, left column, top to bottom

1 - Nav instruments (wind, depth, speed)
2 - Navigator (unable to confirm what this is. Was at one time a separate GPS circuit?)
3 - Helm chartplotter
4 - Autopilot

Upper section middle column, top to bottom

5 - VHF Radio
6 - Radar
7 - Auxilliary - Not used but energized
8 - Single Side Band (NFO)

Upper section right column, top to bottom

9 - Sailing nav lights
10 - Anchoring light
11 - Power nav lights
12 - Deck light

Lower section left column, top to bottom

13 - Port hull lights
14 - Port shower pump
15 - Port hull bilge pump
16 - Port engine room bilge pump
17 - Salon lights
18 - Stereo
19 - Cockpit Refrig (nfo)
20 - LP Gas Alarm (nfo)

Lower section right column, top to bottom

21 - Starboard hull lights
22 - Starboard shower pump
23 - Starboard hull bilge pump
24 - Starboard engine room bilge pump
25 - Fresh water pump
26 - Galley salt water pump
27 - Freezer
28 - Refrigerator

29-34 - Connected to gauges at top of electrical panel - still working on these.

I also discovered a few instances where the equipment wire may have one or more adjacent patch panel terminals that are not used also attached to the same breaker, and thus they have 12v present. For example, the LP Gas circuit (labeled 20) is attached to terminal 37. Terminals 36 and 38 also show the same voltage with breaker in on position.
