Electric Toilet installation

just purchased 2010 Mahe 36 and looking at changing to TMC electric toilet. Concerned about making sure it will pump out OK - looking at installing anti siphon between pump and bowl and having a loop below bowl in outlet (25 mm hose).

Has anyone had experience with electric toilet installation?

Re: Electric Toilet installation

I replaced both heads in my 2002 FP Greenland 34 recently with Raritan Marine Elegance fresh water flush units. Works great and flushes no problem. The holding tanks in this boat are mounted up high in the nose of each bow; approx 6 feet higher than the toilet pump. I also used the Raritan saniflex hose. No odors and made instal much easier.

Re: Electric Toilet installation

Since it's an electric toilet, you may want to put the anti-siphon loop in the intake line and equip it with a solenoid valve. It will probably make a neater installation than putting a regular vented loop between the pump and bowl. Both methods will prevent water from syphoning into the bowl.

Why would you put a loop below the bowl?

Re: Electric Toilet installation

We have a TMC electric that has been installed by a PO. The intake has a vented loop which tends to draw air during use so the electric solenoid would be a great idea (we put a finger on vent during use). We don't have a loop on the outlet and it doesn't fill the toilet (which would be slightly above the waterline). One thing to be aware of is that the wires going to the macerator should be of adequate size. I had a lot of trouble with ours jamming until I routed heavy wires to the macerator and installed a relay circuit for switching in order to eliminate all low current capacity switches from the macerator power circuit.

Re: Electric Toilet installation

Hi

Our Mahe has a TMC electric toilet installed with no loop for the inlet. I suppose not required as the bowl is above the waterline.
