Cockpit lights

Both lights appear to be out and likely are the bulbs. I pulled one light out (despite being sealed with something just short of 5200) and cannot figure out how to replace the bulb. Does anyone know if it can it be done or are these lights permanently sealed and must be replaced in whole? (The part is a B.C.M. illuminazione 3227/0080)

Re: Cockpit lights

Not sure what you did, but just unscrew the glass lid and you'll find a normal G4 socket. Just replaced my G4 halogen bulbs with LED on my boat.

Cheers

Re: Cockpit lights

Thank you for the reply. The glass appears to be sealed but maybe I am missing something?

Re: Cockpit lights

There is nothing on the glass lid that suggests that you should be able to unscrew it, but it actually does.

When changing the bulbs on mine, I probably did the same mistake as you are doing. I first put a screwdriver between the bimini and the 3mm thick light housing, but I couldn't get it out using reasonable force not to break things. Then I tried the unscrew the glass lid and it came off. I was a bit surprised as nothing suggested it would. I had to press real hard with all my fingers all around the edge of the glass lid to be able to do it.

Good luck

Re: Cockpit lights

I was a doubting Thomas but, sure enough, you were spot on as they twisted off! I'm now feeling a little stupid but am quite grateful for your reply.

Best regards - Rob
