Bahia STAINLESS STEEL Stanchion Base

Hey there, recently broke an original Aluminum Stanchion Base on my Bahia and tested a second one for stability and found it corroded to bits inside too. Was checking out different options to replace them (and all others for that matter) and came to manufacturing my own design in laser cut A4 SS. I'm still haggling about the final price per piece but it looks like it's gonna be something around 35€ per piece. Is anybody interested or in the need of having their bases exchanged into a fine designed and manufactured SS part? I added a 12mm hole on the side for quick attachment of fenders or other shackle things, any ideas for uses does it fit any other models then the Bahia?

Yours looks a bit sharp around the edges. I like the hole but I'd make it larger. Ours were all bent & kinked (previous owner - hurricane Ivan). I had larger tube added with beveled cut to distribute the stresses. The old stanchion is welded to the old bases with the larger tube-socket. Very successful, looks good, stronger than the original, low cost.

Re: Bahia STAINLESS STEEL Stanchion Base

Hey guys sorry for dropping off the planet here. I had a private emergency to deal with. Please give me some more time for the stanchion bases, I am working on a 316L SS model with refined features and way better look and feel. I am full of hope to get my final design by this week and gonna test it for a week or two (I will exchange all of my bases once I am satisfied with the new SS base) and will let you know. Does anybody know if the Bahia 46 Stanchion bases fit any other models?

If you have any special requests when it comes to sailing in designing and manufacturing parts for your boat, let me know. Even Alu/SS 3D printing is going to be possible soon. Looking forward for that one

Also coming up are cheaper LED solutions for the DIY Sailor. Anybody interested?

I recently opened a facebook page (The Sailing Cat) where I am going to post pictures, stories and future inventions around sailing, liveaboard, drones, fishing, fun etc.

Have a good day
